PAKMAN moves faster than a mouse click. 1 package, 2 forms, 3 stamps, 6 signatures, 450 times a day, 159,750 packages a year in exchange for 10 days of vacation. PAKMAN traverses the country to deliver packages precisely on time, every time. In the cargo hold of his small truck, the audience is invited to an intense performance about a character who is as lonely as he is invisible in our virtual economy.
PAKMAN is a meeting of the rhythms of juggler Stijn Grupping and drummer Frederik Meulyzer. Together, they explore the pace that defines "this" era. How does PAKMAN's imposed speed relate to his natural rhythms, like heartbeat and breathing? Stijn and Frederik engage in a dialogue between the rhythms and routines of their bouncing balls and drums. They create live music together, enhancing, challenging, complementing, and confronting each other – each with their own instrument. PAKMAN is performed in a truck that stops at squares, parking lots, and playgrounds. Twenty-five spectators take their places in the cargo hold.
