Circa returns to the Chameleon stage with a world premiere: Wolf is a special creation for our 20th anniversary season in 2024, transforming our stage into an otherworldly space, with beams of light cutting through the darkness like moonbeams...

Divided into two halves, Wolf investigates humanity’s primal nature. First we delve into the wildness within ourselves: intense choreographies of small groups, blending identity, freedom, anger and passion. The energy on stage swings from frenzied to sensual as we explore the primal forces within us - and the fear of recognizing the same forces in others.

After the interval, the whole ensemble takes the stage by storm. Bodies fill the space, buzzig with energy and colliding in a whirlwind of movement. A riot of acrobatics and encounters, where danger lurks around every corner and the performers push themselves to the limit, caught between animal instincts and human emotions.

Wolf is more than just a show; it is a tribute to the complexity of humanity and our potential for change.

A fusion of physicality and emotion that utilizes the possibilities of circus as an art form.

With its unique orientation and programme design throughout Germany, Chamäleon Berlin makes a significant contribution to increasing the visibility and appreciation of contemporary circus as an independent art form. Since its foundation in 2004, the Chamäleon Theatre has been a showcase for current artistic positions on the international circus scene and has developed into an important production venue and creative partner over the years. The self-declared aim is to support circus artists in their artistic work, to promote the sustainable development of this art form and to present contemporary circus to a wide audience.

The Chamäleon stage in the Hackesche Höfe is the starting and anchor point of the theatre and forms the heartbeat of its daily work. The pieces are often co-produced and premiered in Berlin. As different as the previous shows by companies such as Circa Contemporary Circus or Gravity & Other Myths from Australia, Cirque Le Roux from France or Circo Aereo from Finland have been, what they have in common is that they manage almost entirely without language and thrive on the seductive flair of the location.

The Chamäleon is located in the Hackesche Höfe, which has been a listed building since 1977 and was designed by architect Kurt Berndt at the beginning of the 20th century. The former Art Nouveau ballroom is furnished with bistro tables where snacks and drinks are discreetly served before and during the performance.
