Circus Special - The Mix Show
Three different acts will share the stage this evening, presenting excerpts from their productions, ranging from juggling to clowning.
The production ‘Unnecessary violence’ by the Franco-German company Hëin? is characterised by playfulness, conflict, juggling and a subtle hint of violence.
The duo draws inspiration from the behaviour of children who test boundaries – and from the belief that adults do not lose this behaviour, but merely conceal it. The Hëin? company brings the spirit of slapstick icons such as Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy into the present day, engaging in a dance-clown-acrobatic contest.
In “I Was Told.”, Kathrin Wagner creates a powerful space that centres on a female, autobiographical perspective on perception, identity and societal expectations. Through poetic texts and unique juggling, she explores how the audience – and she herself, as a woman – is perceived both on and off stage. In an excerpt from the piece, she invites the audience – with her authentic presence and moments of both humour and vulnerability – to engage in a dialogue about self-perception, role models and empowerment – a moving experience that strikes right at the heart.
The Duo Diagonal bridges the gap between skill and clownish comedy. As an unlikely pair of entertainers, they play with the conventions of show business and delightfully reduce them to absurdity. Since 1999, Deana and Holger Ehrich have been touring as Duo Diagonal with their very own brand of humour, focusing on physical comedy. Blurring the lines between theatre, mime and clowning, they guide the audience through the programme.
