In this contemporary circus piece – a multi-layered performance for people of all levels of sight – audio description is reimagined and understood as an artistic element. Who is this voice-over? What does it have to say when there is nothing to describe? Does it have its own thoughts and needs, and is it even live? In their piece, circus artist Christiane Hapt and spoken-word artist Basquel skilfully combine object manipulation, spoken-word art and themes such as the courage to make mistakes, power dynamics and the articulation of one’s own biases.
