Our mindset urgently needs an update. The all-round artist, artist, globetrotterand live artist Ernesto H. Orta will transform the Neue Galerie of the VHS Essen into a multiverse of flashes of thought, eggs not yet laid and fantastic high spirits. The old new circus runs him. We soar, our thoughts take off and yet remain grounded. What does Karl Max have to do with the circus? How do we gain courage? Why does the clown have white paint on his face? What do we learn about the world from acrobats? How do we pool our energies and build tomorrow?
Ernesto collects our questions. The answers are often obvious. We give it to ourselves.

As a special guest at the exhibition opening, Joanna Bassi tells the story of the circus clown from the end of the 18th century to the present day in DIE UNSCHULDEN DES HUMORS - enriched with films, images and personal stories from her famous circus family.
