4 Strings & L'escale

With their show “4 Strings, 4 Hands, 1 Loopstation”, the FourStringCompany tells a story of two people and passions that collide into a powerful fusion of partner acrobatics and live music on two violins. The unlike characters play around with different styles of music, sounds, dance and interaction with the audience. All is centered around the question: How much do I trust?
The 30-40 minute show casually and poetically displays and interweaves the relations between music and movement, artist and audience of all ages.

Maxi Schreier and Felix Fischer have been working together as FourStringCompany since 2016. In recent years, they have been intensively exploring the interplay between two violins, partner acrobatics, and a loop station. During a trip to South America in 2017, they created their first street show, which was further developed at other street festivals in Europe further development at other street festivals in Europe. They teach and conduct research in partner acrobatics and physical theater in national and international projects. Their artistic work focuses on the search for connections and authenticity in collaborative performance. In 2020/21, the two continued their research at UniArts Stockholm and in the Anfibia program in Bologna on the relationships between dance, singing, and sound.

“L’escale” is a circus tale: the wordless story of an encounter with a spectator on an imaginary island. In a poetic universe that grows as the story unfolds, this tale speaks of traveling, sharing and leaving.

Distribution

The circus has been part of Simon Moreau’s life since he was a child. He studied cinema and visual effects before moving to Berlin in 2015, where the local scene inspired him to turn his passion into his profession.
He trained by going from workshop to workshop and took his first steps on the street, until he wrote «L’Escale», a circus tale for young and old that has been travelling around Europe’s street festivals. Between two summer seasons, Simon met Marc Zeun. Together, they founded Roar Circus.
In 2022, he decided to dive into the art of clowning, after being one month at the school Philippe Gaulier, he joined the ‘Le Samovar’ school in Paris.
